CHICAGO, June 21 (Xinhua) -- Chicago Transit Authority lines reported citywide delays after a gas leak was found in the city.
The leak started around 4 p.m. local time (1100 GMT) and the Peoples Gas, a natural gas delivery company, was unable to stop it until an hour later, leaving many trains stuck, and even more delayed.
The gas leak has been under control and the traffic has returned to normal.
Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford told Xinhua that the massive rupture in the gas pipe was caused by a construction crew working in the South Loop.
A leak happened only a week ago in the Loop area. According to Langford, many of the markings made for construction crews are not completely accurate, leading to mishaps. Enditem
