WINDHOEK, June 19 (Xinhua) -- Namibia will vaccinate people against rubella and measles from July 11 to 22 as the country recorded a rise in the number of such cases.

In 2015 alone, more than 1,000 measles cases were reported, according to a statement released by the health ministry.

It said the vaccination will target those aged from nine months to 39 years, adding that this year's vaccination campaign is delayed since Namibia usually hold such programs in June.

Andreas Mwoombola, permanent secretary of the ministry, said in the statement all those falling under the targeted age groups should approach the nearest health care center for the vaccination.

Mobile vaccination centers, Mwoombola said, will be set up at schools and farms for ease access.

Robert said there were more cases of rubella than measles in the recent times.

Although Namibia had measles outbreaks in 2013 and 2014, the health ministry postponed annual vaccination campaign citing lack of logistics. Enditem
