France's Hollande condemns Orlando nightclub shooting

PARIS, June 12 (Xinhua) -- French President Francois Hollande on Sunday condemned "with horror" the Orlando nightclub shooting in the United States that killed at least 50 people.

Hollande expressed the full support of France and the French authorities to the the American people, his office the Elysee said in a statement.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault also expressed condolences to the families of the victims and those injured.

The Islamic State-linked news agency Amaq said on Sunday that the militant group claimed responsibility for the mass shooting that occurred earlier in the day at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida.

It is the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.

U.S. President Barack Obama on Sunday called the shooting an "act of terror" and "act of hate." Enditem
