LAGOS, June 7 (Xinhua) -- Nigeria's current crude oil export volume is less than 1.3 million barrels per day, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu, has said.
In an interview with reporters in Abuja Tuesday, Kachikwu said the volume of oil available to the federation had dwindled substantially, adding that government was making every effort to ensure increase in the volume.
He said peace in the oil-rich Niger Delta was necessary to get things back to normal in the country.
The Nigerian government on Monday said it would open dialogue with militants in the Niger Delta.
The government said that the national security adviser, military chiefs, opinion leaders and the minister of Petroleum Resources would be part of the group that would engage the militants in the dialogue. Enditem
