BRUSSELS, June 7 (Xinhua) -- The European Union (EU) extended its condolences to the families and friends of those killed by a deadly terrorist attack in Istanbul, Turkey on Tuesday.
"As the European Union, we reiterate our continuing solidarity to Turkey, its government and its people and reaffirm our commitment to work closely together to fight the global threat of terrorism," a statement from the European External Action Service read.
A car bomb attack on a bus carrying riot police in Istanbul claimed 11 lives, including seven police officers, and wounded 36 others on Tuesday morning.
Turkey has blamed the militants of the Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) for the blast. However, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far. Enditem
