BERLIN, June 7 (Xinhua) -- Following two consecutive monthly drops, industrial output in Germany rebounded in April, official data showed on Tuesday.
Adjusted for price, seasonal and working day swings, production in German industry increased by 0.8 percent month on month in April, German federal statistics office Destatis said.
The output declined by 1.1 percent in March and 0.7 percent in February.
Economists had forecast an increase of 0.7 percent.
According to Destatis, the rebound was mainly due to a recovery in investment goods output which grew by 2.2 percent. Production of consumer goods went up by 0.4 percent.
"Sentiment among manufacturing companies has brightened somewhat in recent months," said the German Economy Ministry in a statement.
German industry was expected to continue a "moderate recovery" after a foreign trade related weakness in the second half of last year, the ministry added.
