Dortmund sign Sebastian Rode from Bayern

BERLIN, June 6 (Xinhua) -- Borussia Dortmund have sealed the deal with Bayern midfielder Sebastian Rode, both Bundesliga teams confirmed on Monday.

The 25-year-old midfielder leaves Bayern Munich after two seasons after signing a four-year deal to reinforce Dortmund until June 2020.

"Sebastian Rode is a dynamic and strong tackling player with an immensely valuable character. We are delighted to have him on board," Dortmund' s sporting director Michael Zorc said.

The former Under-21 Germany international spend four years with Frankfurt before he joined record champions Bayern Munich in 2014. However, the versatile midfielder never made the breakthrough into Bayern' s first team, despite three goals and six assists in 38 Bundesliga encounters.

"I am fan of the BVB since my childhood therefore I am pleased that the transfer to my favourite club has worked out. Thomas Tuchel is a great coach and I am now looking forward to my new challenge in black and yellow," Dortmund' s fourth new arrival said.

Rode is the fourth summer signing after Barcelona defender Marc Bartra, Osasuna midfielder Mikel Merino and Stade Rennais striker Ousmane Dembele.

Dortmund completed the last season on the second place of the Bundesliga standings. As a result, the qualified for the UEFA Champions League group stage. Enditem
