Iran says Saudi Arabia uses extremists for political ends: spokesman

Source: Xinhua   2016-06-06 21:14:09

TEHRAN, June 6 (Xinhua) -- Saudi Arabia is broadly using extremists for its political agenda in the region, Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hossein Jaber Ansari said here on Monday.

"Riyadh has been using terrorism for years as an instrument to implement its political objectives," Jaber Ansar said in his weekly press briefing.

The Arab kingdom is now using those groups in Syria and Iraq, he said, warning that support for terrorists by Saudi Arabia and other countries would backfire.

"This tactical use of terrorism by regional and global players is a strategic game which will have long-term and strategic repercussions and sooner or later, these players will be targeted by terrorists," he was quoted as saying by Press TV.

Iran and Saudi Arabia are currently locked in a diplomatic row over Syria, Iraq and Yemen issues.
