TEHRAN, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hossein Jaber Ansari condemned on Thursday what he alleged a Saudi Arabian air attack on Iran's embassy in Yemen.
The strike injured a number of embassy guards and damaged the building on Wednesday night, Jaber Ansari was quoted as saying by official IRNA news agency.
"The deliberate act of the Saudi government was a violation of all international conventions about protecting the security and safety of diplomatic missions," he said.
"It goes without saying that the Islamic republic reserves the rights to sue the issue through legal channels," the spokesman said.
Last Saturday, angry mobs in Shiite-dominated Iran stormed and set ablaze the Saudi embassy and consulate to protest the execution of prominent Shiite cleric Nimr at al-Nimr in Saudi Arabia.
Riyadh cut off diplomatic relations with Tehran on Sunday after the attacks. A number of other Arab states either cut or downgraded the diplomatic ties with Tehran.
