BUCHAREST, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- The nightclub fire late Friday followed by explosions has already caused 26 dead and some 180 wounded in downtown Bucharest, authorities announced early Saturday.
Interior Minister Gabriel Oprea said that 26 were confirmed dead in the explosion in a nightclub named Colectiv.
Some 180 injured were admitted into different hospitals in Bucharest, according to Secretary of State of the Health Ministry Raed Arafat.
According to the Facebook page of the club, the club was to play host on Friday evening to the launching of an album by band Goodbye to Gravity.
The organizers announced they would stage a custom light show, as well as a pyrotechnical display, at the event.
