RIO DE JANEIRO, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- Brazil's state-controlled oil company Petrobras' production of the pre-salt reserves has increased threefold in 30 months, the company announced on Wednesday. During the ongoing Offshore Technology Conference Brasil held in Rio, Petrobras Director Solange Guedes hailed his company's operational efficiency, which reached 92.4 percent.
"Petrobras reached a unique combination of costs, productivity and efficiency, and as a result, a very competitive portfolio," she said.
Even though Petrobras is suffering from the discovery and subsequent investigation of a major corruption scheme involving several of its directors, the company managed to register good results in its production in 2015.
In addition to increasing the pre-salt output by threefold, Petrobras recently celebrated another important threshold.
In September, its production of oil and natural gas from pre-salt layer reserves exceeded 1 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed) for the first time, with output averaging 1.028 million boed in the month.
