NEW YORK, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- Colombian cyclist Oscar Tovar was banned for two years after testing positive for testosterone after he won a race in the Gran Fondo New York, the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency said Wednesday.

Tovar was stripped of his victory of the 100-mile (160km) race on May 17 after he finished in just under four hours and 15 minutes. About 5,000 cyclists from 70 countries and regions competed in the event.

Tovar's ban was backdated to start May 17 and any results since then were forfeited.

Tovar, 32, was able to keep his victory in the Gran Fondo NY Colombia, staged in Bogota on April 26.
