DAVAO CITY, Philippines, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- At least four people were killed in a vehicular accident in southern Philippines, a police spokesperson for the Southern Mindanao region said on Tuesday.
Antonio Rivera, the police spokesperson, said the accident also left 34 others injured and they have been sent to a local hospital.
The accident happened when a jeepney the people were riding on Monday hit a concrete lamppost stand in Maco town, in Mindanao's Compostela Valley province, at around 6 p.m. local time.
Traffic accidents are common in the Philippines due to bad roads, poorly maintained vehicles and ill-disciplined motorists.
