NANJING, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- Buddhists worldwide called for more exchange in comparative study and translation of Buddhist classics and other fields such as education and charity, according to a declaration issued at the Fourth World Buddhist Forum.

Buddhists from different countries and regions should strengthen mutual visits to deepen understanding and friendship, the declaration proposed as the two-day forum closed on Sunday in Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province.

Cooperation and exchange should also be enhanced in Buddhist education and charity in fields like international relief and environmental protection, it added.

Efforts should be made to push the dialogue and cooperation between Buddhism and other religions, it said.

More than 1,000 monks and scholars from 52 countries and regions attended the meeting, with the theme of "common aspiration, common action - embracing exchanges and mutual learning".
