BEIJING, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- A grand gathering commemorating the 70th anniversary of the recovery of sovereignty over Taiwan from 50-year Japanese occupation was held here at the Great Hall of the People on Friday.
Yu Zhengsheng, a member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China Central Committee Political Bureau and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, attended the commemorating ceremony and delivered a keynote speech.
