Kerry urges end to all violence in Middle East

English.news.cn   2015-10-22 20:50:30

BERLIN, Oct. 22 (Xinhua) -- U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry on Thursday urged an end to all violence as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict escalates in the past weeks.

He made the remarks during talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Berlin over ongoing conflicts across the Middle East.

Kerry noted that it was critical to end all incitement and all violence, and to find a road forward to build the possibility for a larger peace process.

Netanyahu's visit comes amid a new wave of violence in the Middle East, which has claimed the lives of 10 Israelis and more than 40 Palestinians in the form of lone wolf attacks by Palestinians against Israelis in east Jerusalem, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel met with Netanyahu on Wednesday and said a two-state solution was the best way to solve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

She called on all sides to contribute to help de-escalate the current situation in the Middle East.
