Apple CEO Tim Cook is visiting China again. On China's Chongyang Festival, Cook hiked along the Great Wall, following the Chinese festival tradition of climbing. Then he tweeted on China's Twitter-like social media platform Weibo.

"Happy to be back in China! Started at dawn with a hike along the Wall on Chongyang Festival. Simply breathtaking," he wrote in English, together with the exact Chinese translation. The message earned more than 10,000 retweets, 9,000 replies and over 48,000 "likes".

Cook has a strong presence on global social media. More than 1.63 million people are following him on Twitter.

And he is taking advantage of Chinese social media, notably Weibo, to communicate directly with the often enthusiastic customers and win their hearts.

Cook joined Weibo on May 11 and gained 200,000 followers within an hour. His first message: "Hello China! Happy to be back in Beijing, annoucning innovative new environmental programs."

Now nearly 760,000 Weibo followers are following him. Through his 16 messages so far, Cook mostly shared interpersonal stories and photos from his recent trips to China.

Along with Apple's strong performance on the Chinese market, Cook has been visiting Apple stores across the country, talking to local employees and customers.

Apple will continue to invest in China and open its 25th store, Cook told Xinhua in an exclusive interview on Wednesday.
