Brunei flight returns to Manila after engine snag

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Oct. 22 (Xinhua) -- A Royal Brunei Airlines (RB) flight BI684 which departed Manila Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) for Bandar Seri Begawan on schedule at 15:05 local time Wednesday, experienced abnormal readings on one engine shortly after take off, returned to NAIA.

The RB announced Thursday on its official website, "As a safety precaution and in accordance with standard operating procedures, the captain decided to return back to Manila to enable technical checks to be completed."

The aircraft, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner powered by Rolls Royce Trent 1,000 engines, landed back safely at NAIA and all 152 passengers were safely disembarked at the terminal.

A number of passengers have already been re-routed to their final destination and all remaining passengers were provided with overnight hotel accommodation.
