PHNOM PENH, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) -- The Cambodia's National Assembly began its fifth plenary session of the fifth legislature on Tuesday after a three-month recess.
Some 110 lawmakers, including Prime Minister Hun Sen, attended the session.
King Norodom Sihamoni sent a royal message to mark the opening session, praising the legislative body for working well in making and adopting laws.
"I hope that the National Assembly, which represents the Cambodian people, will continue to settle challenges to ensure a solid society with peace, political stability, security, order, and sustainable development," said the king's message, which was read during the session by National Assembly President Heng Samrin.
According to the schedule, the National Assembly will debate and pass two cooperation agreements between Cambodia and Belarus on trade, economics and investment protection.
Also, the legislative body will debate and pass an agreement between Cambodia and Russia on investment promotion and protection.
The assembly comprises of 123 lawmakers: 68 from the ruling Cambodian People's Party and 55 from the opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party.
