PARIS, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- French President Francois Hollande on Monday expressed optimism that an agreement to reduce global warming would be reached at the upcoming international conference here.

"We have confidence in the conference's outcome as the states have been committed and contributions have been made," Hollande said.

"There will be an agreement in Paris. The question is at what level and if we can regularly revise it. That's the challenge of the negotiations," he told participants at a social conference in Paris.

Six weeks ahead of the international gathering on ways to fight climate change, Hollande pleaded for energy transition which according to him, was "an economic asset and a way for better living while protecting the planet".

Citing France's initiative to promote green growth, the French President argued that clean industry and businesses offered one million jobs and that figure could be doubled.

An international gathering on climate change was scheduled in Paris from Nov. 30 to Dec. 11. France's officials hope to reach a binding accord to limit global warming to two degrees Celsius.
