NEW DELHI, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said India wishes to see Nepal united, inclusive, stable and prosperous. Modi made the remarks when meeting Nepalese Deputy Prime Minister Kamal Thapa here.
Modi said India is committed to strengthening the traditional bonds of friendship and kinship with the people of Nepal, said Indian officials.
"Prime Minister reiterated that India's only desire is to see a united, inclusive, stable and prosperous Nepal, and that India is committed to strengthening the traditional bonds of friendship and kinship with the people of Nepal," a Prime Minister's Office statement said.
Modi also congratulated Thapa on assuming charge as the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Nepal.
The relations between India and Nepal are strained recently after agitating Indian-origin people in southern parts of Nepal blocked supplies of essential commodities to Nepal from India.
