France's Hollande expects 1.1 pct growth in 2015

PARIS, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- France would accelerate its gross domestic product (GDP) by 1.1 percent this year above a previous government forecast of 1 percent, French President Francois Hollande announced on Monday.

Dogged by growing critics on poor results to expanding growth of the eurozone's second largest power, Hollande stressed "France is going better" with the country's national wealth growth set at 1.1 percent in 2015.

"It's higher than last year, (but) not enough because the link between jobs and growth is direct. If we do not have growth, we will not have more jobs and lower unemployment," he said, noting the Socialists's objective to put economic recovery back on track.

Lagging behind its European neighbors, France has "to take steps to support building sector and public works activities" to muscle its economic performance and stop job losses in the two businesses, the Socialist leader told RTL radio in an interview.

However, France "prepared the future with digital and energy transition," Hollande said.

In 2014, French growth was at 0.4 percent.
