TIRANA, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- Albanian police have discovered a laboratory that processes and packages the drug cannabis sativa in western Albania's city of Durres, Albanian Daily News reported Monday.
During the Durres police operation called "Coordinates," 700 kg of cannabis sativa were confiscated and seven persons arrested.
The group was discovered when the drugs were being packed to be shipped to Italy. Many other persons have been declared wanted by the police, as a larger drug gang was suspectedly involved in the trafficking.
Five of the arrested persons were businessmen in the fields of fuels or construction, or owners of bars and restaurants, local media said.
