BEIJING, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- China has published a short book on Chinese President Xi Jinping's speech on the arts delivered a year ago.

Xi addressed authors, actors, script writers and dancers at a symposium in Beijing on Oct. 15 last year, urging them not to pursue commercial success at the expense of producing work with artistic and moral value.

In the speech, he called on artists to create more works that are both artistically outstanding and morally inspiring, in order to serve the people and socialism and to present socialist core values.

Entitled "Speech at the Symposium on the Arts", it was published by the People's Publishing House.
