KIEV, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- At least 14 people were killed after their boat on a fishing trip capsized in the Black Sea near Ukraine's southern port city of Odessa on Saturday, authorities said Sunday.
According to the State Emergency Service, 22 people were rescued from the vessel which is believed to be carrying 36 people at the time of the accident.
Earlier in the day, Odessa regional authorities said that the boat with 33 passengers and three crew members onboard capsized at about 3.30 p.m. local time (1230 GMT) Saturday about one kilometer from the shore, after being caught in a thunderstorm.
Preliminary investigation showed that the boat was overloaded at the time of the sinking and its passengers were not wearing life jackets.
