RAMALLAH, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- The Palestinian National Authority (PNA) on Sunday called on the International Quartet, the United States, Russia, the United Nations and the European Union, to intervene to stop the Israeli escalation of violence.
PNA Prime Minister Hamdallah said following a meeting with the Quartet representative, Kito De Boer, that the Quartet has to intervene to stop the Israeli escalation against the Palestinians.
Hamdallah briefed De Boer "over the ongoing crimes and violations that the Israeli army, the police and the settlers are committing against the Palestinian people."
He held the Israeli government fully responsible "for the current escalation in the Palestinian territories, mainly in East Jerusalem and in the West Bank, against the Palestinian people and their leadership."
The PNA foreign affairs office also accused Israel of disregarding the lives of the Palestinian people and shedding their blood by carrying out field executions on a daily bases.
Since early October, 43 Palestinians have been killed and more than 1,500 injured in the ongoing wave of tensions between the Palestinians and Israeli security forces.
