NEW DELHI, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- At least 13 people were killed and 10 others injured in a major road mishap in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh Saturday, a senior police official said.
"The mishap happened when a mini-truck, carrying 40 members of a marriage party, collided head on with a bus near Kandukur town in the state's Prakasam district," he said, on condition of anonymity.
The impact of the collision was such that the mini-truck caught fire, the official said, adding that 13 people, including three children, were killed on the spot.
Those injured have been admitted to a local hospital where the condition of some are said to be serious, he said.
"All the victims were passengers of the mini-truck and there was no one on the bus, except the driver and his helper who fled the spot immediately," the official said.
A probe has been ordered into the accident and a manhunt launched to nab the driver of the bus, he added.
