Civil servant exam warms up

English.news.cn   2015-10-16 21:24:18

BEIJING, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- Despite fading government job appeal, the first day of sign ups for China's national civil servant exam still saw more than 18,000 applicants, up 1,600 compared with last year.

China kicked off registration for the 2016 national public servant exam on Thursday, with plans to recruit more than 27,000 civil servants for national-level government organs this year, a 25-percent increase from the previous year, its largest cohort of officials ever.

The 18,000 applicants applied for nearly 5,000 positions. The position of immigration inspection officer at Shanghai frontier inspection bureau was the most popular, with 176 applicants signing up for the post that required only 30 people.

As usual, positions below the county level and those located in remote areas are less popular among applicants, said Peng Zhongbao, an official at the State Administration of Civil Service.

The deadline for the registration is Oct. 24 and the written test takes place on Nov. 29.
