ZAGREB, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- Heavy storm hit the Croatian southern coast city of Dubrovnik on Thursday causing floods in some parts of the city, electricity supply was interrupted and traffic was stopped in some parts of the city.

Water flooded the houses and buildings and some primary and high schools were closed, local media reported.

In Karlovac, the city of continental part of Croatia, and in Dvor, a town on the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina, citizens are building up banks on rivers of Kupa, Korana and Una, following the meteorological forecast reporting the rivers may overflow after continued rains for two weeks.

The Croatian central coast city of Sibenik was hit by rainy storm on Wednesday evening, overflowing parts of the city and cutting electricity lines. The nearby island of Murter, connected with bridges, is completely cut-off from the mainland.
