Poland, Belgium discuss strengthening cooperation

WARSAW, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- Cooperation in the fields of economy, science and education were among the topics discussed by Polish President Andrzej Duda and the Belgian royal couple King Philip and Queen Mathilde.

The royal couple on Thursday wrapped up a three-day official visit, during which they held talks with First Lady Agata Kornhauser-Duda, Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament Malgorzata Kidawa-Blonska and Senate Speaker Bogdan Borusewicz.

"I believe this important visit of the Belgian royal couple will contribute to the intensification of our relations," Duda said during a press conference following the meeting.

The Belgian king said he was looking forward to enhanced cooperation with Poland in many aspects and areas.

During the visit, a series of agreements were signed in the Belgian Embassy between entrepreneurs and scientific institutions representing both countries.

The royal couple during their visit attended a seminar on innovation in life sciences held by the Polish Academy of Sciences, and paid a visit to La Lorraine Poland, a Belgian bread production enterprise. They also participated in a seminar on Polish-Wallonian cooperation.

The Belgian royal couple is paying a return visit to Poland following the 2012 trip to Belgium by then president Bronislaw Komorowski.
