BEIJING, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Defense Minister Chang Wanquan met with Myanmar's defense minister Sein Win and Singapore's defense minister Ng Eng Hen here on Thursday.

While meeting with Sein Win, Chang said that China and Myanmar should treat the bilateral relationship from a strategic and long-term perspective.

The Chinese side attaches great importance to the military-to-military ties with Myanmar, Chang said, stressing the two sides should increase high-level interactions, step up strategic consultations, boost multilateral security cooperation, and work together to maintain peace and stability in border areas.

Sein Win said that the Myanmar side has recognized that China is a friend and will boost cooperation with the Chinese side.

While meeting with Ng Eng Hen, Chang said China stands ready to work with Singapore to sincerely implement the consensus reached by the heads of state of the two countries in July and deepen practical cooperation between the two militaries on the basis of mutual respect.

Ng Eng Hen said Singpore always supports China playing an important role in the region and the world at large. He added that Singapore will not change its one-China policy.

The Myanmar and Singapore defense ministers are in Beijing to attend an informal meeting between Chinese and ASEAN defense ministers, scheduled for Oct. 15-16.
