PARIS, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- Three French soldiers were injured by a mine in northern Mali earlier this week, local media reported on Thursday.
Citing Spokesman of the French General Staff, Colonel Gilles Jaron, the daily Le Figaro said on its website, three national servicemen suffered several injuries after they hit a mine in the former French colony on Tuesday afternoon.
With the support of African countries, France deployed, in 2014, a batch of 3,000 troops in the Sahel region to combat extremist insurgents and restore security in the area.
Two years ago, it launched a UN-backed military intervention to oust al Qaeda-linked militants from towns in northern Mali they had seized in 2012.
So far, ten French soldiers have been killed in Mali where situation is still volatile despite an accord on peace deal between rebels and local authorities.
