WELLINGTON, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- Growth in New Zealand's manufacturing sector accelerated in September to its highest level since February this year, according to the latest performance of manufacturing index (PMI) out Thursday.
The BNZ-Business New Zealand PMI for September was 55.4 -- on a scale where above 50 indicates expansion and below 50 contraction -- which was up 0.3 points from August.
Business New Zealand executive director for manufacturing Catherine Beard said that the continued upwards movement in overall manufacturing activity was assisted by healthy levels of both production and new orders.
"Production was at its highest level since December last year, while new orders continued to improve. Overall, this should flow through into healthy results for the last quarter of the year," Beard said in a statement.
