China to further enhance legislative cooperation with France: Chinese official

PARIS, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- China and France should further exchanges in the field of implication of ruling according to law in order to promote development of China and France's comprehensive strategic partnership, Qiangba Puncog, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China, said Wednesday.

During an official visit to France at the invitation of the French National Assembly, Qiangba said: "The Sino-French relationship has been developing most soundly and rapidly in recent years, and the two countries are enhancing mutual understanding, collaboration and cooperation in the economic, trade, people-to-people and cultural areas and between their legislative bodies."

The Chinese top official also held talks with First Vice-President of the French National Assembly Laurence Dumont, president of the France-China Friendship Group Bruno Le Roux, and president of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Commission at the French Senate Jean-Pierre Raffarin.

The French side spoke highly of the current bilateral relationship between France and China, and reaffirmed its willingness to work with China to further develop high-level communication and exchanges, deepen pragmatic cooperation in various fields, promote the friendship between the two peoples and enhance exchanges between the two legislatures.

The two sides also conducted candid and in-depth exchange of views on climate change, the Belt and Road Initiative, and cooperation between regions.
