SYDNEY, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- The Australian Authorities have sized almost three million Australian dollars of cannabis in unrelated raids in the north of Australia.
Two men have been arrested after the authorities allegedly found an elaborate hydroponic set up housing 447 marijuana plants in various stages of maturity, worth an estimated two million Australian dollars (1.45 million U.S. dollars), following a tip- off to police in Brisbane.
The offenders used air filters, a blacked out "grow room" and the power being re-routed off the grid to avoid detection, a Queensland police spokeswoman told Xinhua on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, the authorities also raided an unrelated property in northern Queensland, allegedly uncovering 370 marijuana plants ranging from seedlings to mature plants as well as 20 kilograms of dried cannabis with an estimated street value of 750,000 Australian dollars (541,911 U.S. dollars).
Three people aged between 48 and 74 have been charged.
