MADRID, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- The Spanish treasury on Tuesday placed treasury bills valued at 4.121 billion euros (4.690 billion U.S. dollars) on the market registering a demand of almost 10.4 billion euros.
A total of 1.265 billion euros worth of six-month treasury bills carried an average interest rate of -0.007 percent, below the zero percent of the previous issue held in September.
The placement also included 2.856 billion euros worth of 12-month treasury bills that fetched an average interest rate of 0.014 percent, below the 0.048 percent of the previous auction held in September.
So far, the Spanish treasury has placed around 121.8 billion euros of medium and long-term debt on the market, which represented 85.8 percent of the country's financial goals for the year. (1 euro = 1.14 U.S. dollars)
