SYDNEY, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- An Australian hunter missing for six days without water in remote bushland has said it is a miracle he is still alive after being forced to eats ants to survive.
The man, 62, on a hunting trip in Western Australia's gold fields, became lost after leaving his campsite in pursuit of a camel, wearing nothing but a T-shirt, shorts and flip-flops.
Authorities found the man on Tuesday, sitting under a tree 15 kilometers from where he was last seen.
"He just spent the last two days under a tree eating black ants and that sustained him,"WA Police Superintendent Greatwood told reporters.
"When we found him, he was extremely dehydrated, disoriented and basically delusional."
Greatwood said it was a miracle he survived harsh conditions -- where temperatures reaching up to 37 degrees Celsius -- without protection and water.
The man was taken airlifted to hospital after initial treatment.
