BEIJING, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping offered congratulations to Alexander Lukashenko on his re-elections as Belarusian president.
"On the occasion of your re-election as the president of the Republic of Belarus, I, on behalf of the Chinese government and people and in my own name, hereby extend warm congratulations and good wishes to you," Xi said in his congratulatory message.
"I attach great importance to the development of China-Belarus relations, and am willing to work with you to advance the China-Belarus comprehensive strategic partnership and bring more benefits to the two countries and the two peoples," Xi said.
Lukashenko won re-election after gaining 83.49 percent of the vote, according to preliminary results released earlier Monday by Belarus's Central Election Committee.
