BEIJING, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- Beijing has more than three million registered volunteers, the deputy director of the Beijing Volunteers' Association said at an international volunteer conference on Monday.
"Inspired by the Beijing Olympics in 2008, the number of volunteers has kept growing," said Teng Shengping.
The number of volunteer organizations exceeds 50,000, and their members offer help to the disabled and elderly and migrant workers, as well as services in environmental protection and poverty relief, she said.
The Beijing Volunteers' Association has forged partnerships with 43 organizations in 29 countries and regions, according to Teng.
It will carry out training, create volunteer opportunities and initiate international exchanges to improve its service, she added.
