KABUL, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- An explosion rocked central part of Afghan capital of Kabul on Sunday morning, leaving casualties, a witness said.

The attack took place at around 09:15 a.m. (04:45 GMT) along Hsamayi Road when a convoy of NATO-led forces was passing by the area, witness Mohammad Najib told Xinhua.

"One foreign military vehicle was severely damaged by the blast. Several civilian vehicles were also damaged by the attack which took place along the two-line road," the witness said.

"We still cannot provide details on causalities. There is fear of possible causalities as the bombing took place at the morning rush hour," a security source told Xinhua, adding details will be revealed to public later on the day.

Government troops cordoned off the area shortly after the blast, keeping people from gathering at the scene for fears that there might be a second blast.

Several ambulances and fire engines were rushing to the scene.

A thick black smoke was seen rising above the site.
