10 Palestinians wounded in clashes with Israeli army in West Bank

English.news.cn   2015-10-03 18:25:36

RAMALLAH, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- Fierce clashes flared up on Saturday between Palestinians and Israeli army in the northern West Bank city of Nablus.

Palestinian sources told Xinhua that Israeli military forces "raided" Nablus, leading young Palestinians to hurl stones at the army. The soldiers responded with live ammunition, rubber-coated bullets and tear gas bombs.

The sources added that 10 Palestinians were wounded during the clashes.

According to the sources, the Israeli army's "raid" included searching and storming homes and arresting twelve people. Official Israeli sources didn't comment on the incident.

Two Israeli settlers were killed and some others were wounded on Thursday in an armed attack against their car in Nablus.

A Palestinian armed group belonging to the Fatah movement announced responsibility of the attack.

In an online statement that wasn't verified, the group said one of its members has opened fire on a car of Israeli settlers as they attempted to leave Itamar settlement, south of Nablus.

A senior official at Fatah, the party led by President Mahmoud Abbas, denied his party's involvement in the attack.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to find and punish the killers of two Israeli settlers, saying "we will find these murderers and bring them to justice. Most importantly, we will take action that will ensure there's no reward for terror."

"This murder will not pass without a response," Netanyahu said in remarks to the public Israeli radio.
