BEIJING, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- At least 10 people were killed and 20 more injured in a campus shooting at a community college in the U.S. state of Oregon Thursday, according to state police.

The following are the major school shootings in the United States since 1999:

-- May 23, 2014: A community college student killed seven people and wounded seven others in stabbing and drive-by shooting attacks near the main campus of the University of California, Santa Barbara.

-- June 7, 2013: Five people, including the gunman, were killed at or near the campus of Santa Monica College, California, when the shooter opened fire on the school campus library after shooting at several cars and a city bus at separate crime scenes. The gunman was fatally wounded by police officers.

-- Dec. 14, 2012: Adam Lanza, aged 20, killed 28 people including 20 children and eight adults in Sandy Hook Elementary School in the U.S. state of Connecticut. Lanza first killed his mother at their shared home before taking her guns and driving to the school. The incident was the second-deadliest school shooting by a single person in U.S. history, after the 2007 Virginia Tech University shootings.

-- April 2, 2012: A man killed seven people and wounded three others at Oikos University in Oakland in the state of California.

-- Feb. 14, 2008: A gunman broke into Northern Illinois University in the state of Illinois and opened fire randomly at more than 160 students and teachers, killing six and wounding more than 10 others before shooting himself dead.

-- April 16, 2007: A 23-year-old student from South Korea went on a shooting spree at Virginia Tech University in Blacksburg of Virginia, killing 32 people and wounding 15 others before killing himself. It was the deadliest campus shooting in the U.S. history.

-- Oct. 2, 2006: A gunman killed five girl students at an Amish school before killing himself in the state of Pennsylvania.

-- March 21, 2005: A 16-year-old student shot dead five students, a security guard and a teacher at Red Lake High School in the state of Minnesota, before killing himself during a shootout with police.

-- April 20, 1999: Two male students armed with assault rifles shot dead 12 other students and a teacher in a rampage at Columbine High School in the state of Colorado and then killed themselves.
