Derrick Rose has surgery, expected back in two weeks

English.news.cn   2015-10-01 13:22:59

WASHINGTON, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose underwent surgery Wednesday to repair a left orbital fracture after getting injured during Tuesday's practice.

The team said in a statement that Rose is expected to resume basketball activities in two weeks.

"He's still in great spirits, and again, it's not a structural injury," head coach Hoiberg said. "When he comes back ready to go he should be able to go right back into it 100 percent."

Rose, the 2010-11 MVP, tore the ACL in his left knee in April 2012 and missed the 2012-13 season. He then tore the medial meniscus in his right knee in November 2013 and missed the rest of the 2013-14 season. He also had a meniscectomy on his right knee in February and missed 31 regular-season games during the 2014-15 season.

Rose, 26, signed a five-year max extension worth close to $95 million before the 2011-12 season, but from then he has only played in just 100 regular-season games in four seasons.
