NEW DELHI, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- A moderate-intensity earthquake hit the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand Tuesday, a senior government official said.
"The epicenter of the quake was near Haldwani town in the hilly state and it measured 4.5 on the Richter Scale," he said, on condition of anonymity.
However, there have been no reports of any casualty or damage to properties so far, the official said.
Senior disaster management officials have rushed to the spot to assess the situation, he added.
