KATHMANDU, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- Nepalese ministers have hailed the promulgation of the country's new constitution, saying it is a historic moment to celebrate as the dreams of the Nepalese have come true.

Following the announcement of the constitution's promulgation by President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav Sunday evening, Deputy Prime Minister Prakash Man Singh told Xinhua, "After a long wait, of almost six decades, finally the wishes of Nepalese have come true. "

This is the first full-fledged constitution in the Himalayan nation.

Earlier, the country had an interim constitution in 2007 following the people's movement in 2006 that toppled the 240-year monarchy.

As for the disgruntled parties which boycotted the constitution drafting writing in the last minute, the minister further said that the constitution is a flexible document that has enough rooms for amendment.

Echoing Singh's remarks, Minister for Foreign Affairs Mahendra Bahadur Pandey said that the constitution is the biggest achievement of the Nepalese people.

In an exclusive interview in the Constituent Assembly premise Sunday night, Pandey told Xinhua, "This is a historic day. It's the achievement of Nepal and the Nepalese people. Now, we will go ahead for peace and prosperity."

The foreign minister also thanked the international community for showing their support and welcoming the new constitution of this South Asian nation.

"Nepal has finally entered into a federal democratic republic. It's the happiest moment," said Home Minister Bamdev Gautam.

Right after the adoption of the new constitution with an overwhelming two-thirds majority on Sunday, the Constituent Assembly of Nepal was transformed into the country's parliament.
