India, Sri Lanka agree to boost ties

English.news.cn   2015-09-15 20:05:33

NEW DELHI, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Sri Lankan counterpart Ranil Wickremesinghe Tuesday said the two countries are determined to take the relationship to the next level, after holding talks here.

India and Sri Lanka also signed four agreements to deepen cooperation in health care and space science.

Modi said India hoped Sri Lanka will achieve "genuine reconciliation" and development so that all people including the minority Tamil community can live a "life of equality, justice, peace and dignity."

The two sides will finalize a comprehensive economic partnership agreement by next year, according to Modi, who visited Sri Lanka earlier this year as the first Indian prime minister to tour the island nation since 1987.
