MANILA, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- The Philippines and South Korea signed Monday a memorandum of agreement on the protection of classified military information.

Philippine Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin and visiting South Korean Defense Minister Han Minkoo inked the deal at a ceremony in the Philippine military headquarters.

The agreement aims to better apprise the Philippines of the latest developments in the Korean Peninsula, where thousands of Filipinos have been living and working, the Philippine Defense department said.

After his meeting with Gazmin, the South Korean official, who is on a two-day visit here, also called on President Benigno S. Aquino III.
