China, Thailand vow to enhance military ties

BEIJING, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) -- Vice chairman of China's Central Military Commission Xu Qiliang met with Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Prawit Wongsuwon on Friday, agreeing to strengthen military ties.

Xu welcomed Prawit's presence at the Thursday commemorations of the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

"China hopes to deliver the message through such events that China will work with the international community to safeguard historical justice, the victory outcome of World War II and world peace, security and stability," Xu said.

China is willing to work with Thailand to further military cooperation, Xu said.

Prawit said his country attaches great importance to the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership and is ready to deepen military cooperation with China.

Meng Jianzhu, head of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, also met with Prawit on Friday.

Meng and Prawit vowed to strengthen law enforcement cooperation to maintain regional security and stability.
