BEIJING, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao met with guests from Australia, Hungary and the Philippines on Thursday.

The three foreign guests joined about 30 world leaders and other representatives from governments and international organizations for China's commemorations for the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II on Thursday morning.

When meeting with Australian Minister for Veterans' Affairs, Michael Ronaldson, Li said China and Australia both made important contribution to the World Anti-Fascist War.

Ronaldson said Xi's speech delivered at a grand gathering earlier Thursday shows China's determination to maintain world peace and justice.

Li expressed his hope that China and Australia will fully implement the consensus reached by their leaders, deepen the cooperation in economic, cultural and judicial areas to promote the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership.

Ronaldson said Australia is willing to strengthen mutual trust and cooperation with China.

When meeting with Peter Szijjarto, minister of foreign affairs and trade of Hungary, Li said bilateral ties between China and Hungary have witnessed steady development since the establishment of diplomatic ties 66 years ago.

Li said he hopes the two countries can expand pragmatic cooperation in investment, finance and infrastructure and people-to-people exchanges so as to promote China-Europe ties and the relationship between China and Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries.

Szijjarto said Hungary is willing to expand pragmatic cooperation with China, and contribute more to the ties between China and CEE countries.

When meeting with Former Philippine president Joseph Estrada, Li said the people of China and the Philippines forged strong friendship during the World War II.

As neighbors, the two countries should pursue friendly coexistence and win-win cooperation, Li said. China is willing to make joint efforts with the Philippines to propel bilateral ties back to a normal track.

Estrada said the friendship between the two countries has a long history and he hopes they will overcome the current difficulties. He promised to play his role in this regard.
