BEIJING, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- China has urged Japan to stop all provocations after the Japanese Cabinet Secretariat published some information on its website on Friday alleging Diaoyu islands belong to Japan.

"The Diaoyu Island and its adjacent islands have been China's inherent territory since ancient times," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said Friday night.

She said that Japan, no matter what means it takes to preach about its illegal claim, can never change the fact that the Diaoyu islands belong to China.

"We urge the Japanese side to face up to history, respect facts and stop all provocations that harm China's territorial sovereignty," said the spokeswoman.
